Tributes to Waterford cyclist (25) who died in Paris metro station

Tributes are being paid to a young Waterford man who died suddenly in a Paris metro station. Tomás Walsh (25) was in France to watch the Tour de France when the incident occurred on Monday morning. In a statement Comeragh Cycling Club said they learned of Mr Walsh's death 'with great sadness' and that their 'clubmate and young friend has lost his life' in France. 'We're truly shattered and extend our condolences to all his family and friends,' the statement added. READ MORE Tributes paid to the young cyclist online describe him as 'a pleasant young man with the world in front of him', 'a credit to his parents' and 'a really great lad.' Altitude, a bike shop based in Waterford city, said: 'Everyone in Altitude is deeply saddened to hear of the death of Tomás Walsh. Tomás was one of a golden group of talented cyclists who happened to converge through their membership of Comeragh Cycling Club and through which great friendships were formed.' Local Sinn Féin councillor for Comeragh Catherine Burke said: 'My heart goes out to his family and friends during this incredibly difficult time, wishing strength and comfort to all who knew and loved him in the face of such a loss.' The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is aware of the case and is providing consular assistance. As with all consular cases, the Department does not comment on the details of individual cases. Mr Walsh's funeral arrangements are yet to be announced.

Person dies at Perdiswell Leisure Centre

A PERSON has died suddenly at Perdiswell Leisure Centre with a large emergency service presence seen outside the building. At least three West Mercia Police vehicles and West Midlands Ambulance Service ambulances were called out to the centre on Bilford Road, Worcester, at around 12.30pm this afternoon (Tuesday, July 22). A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "We attended Perdiswell Leisure Centre this afternoon following a report of a sudden death. "The death is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner." The emergency services left the scene at around 1pm. Worcester News has contacted Perdiswell Leisure Centre for a comment.

Even if he was a better fisher than I was," Lutz wrote on Instagram, posting images of the two of them fishing together. He continued, "A GoFundMe has been set up for his family: his wife Jenni and his four children, twins Ellery (15) and Rhea (15), Zoe (13), and Josiah (10). If you can find it in your heart, please give a little or share this to help them through this tough time." Lutz is best known for playing TV writer JD Lutz on the series 30 Rock from 2006 to 2013. The role was modeled after his real-life career as a writer for Saturday Night Live, and in 2014 he joined the writing staff of Late Night With Seth Meyers. Friends from Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock shared support for their pal in the comments section. Kenan Thomspson wrote, "Oh noooo!!! I'm so sorry John!!!! Sending yall love and prayers!!! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾" Actress Darcy Carden wrote, "Sending so much love to you and your family John." SNL alum Vanessa Bayer also shared condolences, adding, "I'm so sorry John, Thinking of you and your family and sending love." Sask. RCMP investigate sudden death in RM of Beaver River

Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes is investigating a sudden death at a rural property in the Rural Municipality (RM) of Beaver River, about 350 kilometres northwest of Saskatoon. On July 11, at around 1:30 p.m., Pierceland RCMP received a report of a sudden death after local firefighters responded to a structure fire on the property, RCMP said in a news release. Upon arrival, they found a deceased adult female, later identified as 25-year-old Juanita Wahpistikwan from Big Island Lake Cree Nation. Her family has been notified. RCMP say they're working to determine the circumstances surrounding Wahpistikwan's death. They are seeking information from anyone who had contact with her on July 10 and 11. If you saw or spoke with Wahpistikwan during that time or have any information about her death, police ask you to contact major crimes at 310-RCMP. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Sask. RCMP say updates will be provided when possible and if an imminent risk to public safety is identified, they will notify the public.
